An annual wellness exam at Musgrave Family Medicine is an assessment of your health status. The purpose of the exam (also called a checkup) is to establish a clear picture of your health and wellness.
You may have a wellness exam every year as part of your regular health maintenance or for compliance with insurance, sports, or work requirements.
During your wellness exam, our staff will perform a variety of functions:
- Update your health record
- Build trust with your provider
- Update your plan of care
- Monitor your chronic health problems
- Assess your current medication list
- Assess you for signs of acute illness
- Identify your increased health risks
- Update immunizations
- Educate you on new or updated health information
A quality wellness exam helps to create an up-to-date, holistic health maintenance plan that is specific to you and your health needs.
- Assess every body system
- Record your weight and height
- Take vital signs, including blood pressure, oxygen level, and heart rate
- Collect urine for urinalysis
- Collect blood for routine laboratory testing
- Ask questions about your current health status
- Answer any questions or concerns you may have
- Make changes to medications and treatment plans
The Musgrave clinic staff may order follow-up testing, including cancer screenings, specialized bloodwork, or EKG, depending on your health history, symptoms, or risk factors for some diseases.
Musgrave Family Medicine tailors wellness exams to age, gender, and the health history of a patient.
For women, a wellness exam may include a breast and pelvic exam and a Pap smear. Men may receive prostate-related blood work.
If we find anything concerning that needs follow-up testing or treatment, we'll discuss this with you and give you a chance to ask any questions or share any concerns. Call (817) 310-9510 for an appointment today and stay on top of your health!
